Appendix B: Local Study
Online Survey Through Qualtrics
Our team conducted a local study with a total of 122 participants. This local study was a survey using the Qualtrics tool available to all Indiana University students. The survey was accessible to all IU students including but not limited to IU Bloomington, IUPUI, IU South Bend, and IU Northwest. In this local study, we constructed nine questions that we found were most important after our research.

Questions Survey Participants Were Asked
These questions are:
-
What school is your major affiliated with?
-
What is your age?
-
Are you interested in volunteering?
-
How many times have you volunteered in the past?
-
What makes want to return to an organization and volunteer again?
-
What makes you want to volunteer?
-
What type of volunteering do you prefer to participate in?
-
What times are you most likely to volunteer?
-
Would you like to volunteer?
-
The final question was similar to a previous question (are you interested in volunteering) to see if any participants were not taking the survey seriously.

The Purpose of Our Survey
We had a variety of demographic data based questions along with research-based questions. We were trying to find what potential volunteers found appealing about non-profit organizations and what made them want to go back to that organization. Our findings are presented below with each question having a bar graph.

By the end of the survey, there were only 2 survey participants lost going from the beginning with 122 survey participants and ending with question 9 having 120 survey participants. Question 9 asked “would you like the volunteer”, mimicking question 3 “are you interested in volunteering”. Question 9 had 13 participants select “definitely not” or “probably not”, while question 3 had 8 participants select either “definitely not” or “probably not”. That is a difference of only 5 from question 3 to 9.
